What Makes Truck Accidents More Dangerous Than Car Crashes?

Statistically, truck accidents are more likely to cause catastrophic injuries and fatalities than passenger car crashes. According to data from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), 4,119 victims lost their lives in large truck accidents in 2019. While this was far less than the almost 32,000 deaths that occurred in other types of accidents, the odds of serious and fatal injuries are higher with commercial trucks.
